Dr Peter Velthuis was trained as a dermatologist at Utrecht University Hospital in the Netherlands. During his training and several years after that, he directed research as head of the section of immunohistochemistry. He received his PhD in 1990 for a thesis regarding photo-immunology in lupus patients. In 1993, he started his private cosmetic dermatology clinic in Eindhoven. This evolved into the largest chain of cosmetic clinics in the Netherlands with 14 locations. In 2015 Dr Velthuis returned to university, Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam. He is currently head of the Division of Cosmetic Dermatology in the Department of Dermatology.
Dr Velthuis is president-elect of the European Society for Cosmetic and Aesthetic Dermatology (ESCAD). He is founder and board member of NVCD (Dutch Society for Cosmetic Dermatology) and president of DALA (Dutch Aesthetic Laser Association). Together with Dr Leonie Schelke, he has founded Cutaneous, a company that is dedicated to the education of cosmetic medical specialist in ultrasound imaging. As a Doctor of Nursing Practice and Board-Certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Dr. Naylor brings over 20 years of expertise spanning critical care, cardiology, aesthetic medicine, and advanced medical procedures.
With continuous training alongside plastic surgery, dermatology, and medical aesthetics experts, Dr. Naylor maintains cutting-edge knowledge in her field. Her excellence has been recognized through multiple consecutive years as a Top 100 Injector in the United States, while her practice has garnered numerous accolades, including Best Med Spa and Best Injectables over the past seven years.
Dr. Naylor’s distinctive background enables her to deliver comprehensive health services that support heart, body, and mind wellness. Her commitment to giving back is evidenced by the decade-long pro bono work with plastic surgeons, treating cancer and trauma survivors with aesthetic treatments prior to establishing Skin Esteem Med Spa. Dr. Naylor had the distinguished opportunity to complete her doctorate studies under the mentorship of Dr. Velthuis.
Currently, Dr. Naylor is preparing to submit her quality improvement study, “Integrating Ultrasound into Medical Aesthetics,” to the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology (JAAD). This research formed the foundation of her Doctorate of Nursing dissertation. As a national speaker and private trainer for Revance and Prollenium, she has moderated multiple cadaver labs alongside renowned physicians including Dr. Sykes, Dr. Shridharan, and Dr. Durkin.
Dr. Naylor is passionate about advancing the field of aesthetic medicine through education and best practices. Her expertise in facial ultrasound has established her as a sought-after consultant for providers across the United States, particularly in managing complications and providing ultrasound training. She is at the forefront of implementing innovative technologies in aesthetic medicine and will be leading upcoming facial ultrasound research initiatives in collaboration with Dr. Velthuis, Dr. Schelke, and Dr. Decates.
